We have so many new things going on in our life that we would love to share with you. If you have time please contact us so that we can grab a coffee or a meal.
Looking forward to seeing you all!
When I originally volunteered for one year I didn’t know that it would become seven and counting. I cannot describe what the past 7 years have done to my life. I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve alongside some amazing people, meet unbelievable new friends who have come to know Christ and some I’m still praying for, learn a new language and culture and above all those things I’ve experienced God’s faithfulness with great joy and through sometimes great suffering.
The greatest gift the Lord has given me in the past seven years was my best friend and husband Johnny. I love that we are getting to serve the Lord alongside each other. I love that we share a heart that beats for Slovenia. I love that he has also faithfully served in Slovenia for seven years. Right along side that we have Kinsley. She brings so much joy to our lives!
I miss my family dearly but am thankful for their many visits and Skype 🙂 I’m also thankful to the great family God has given me over here. Here is a very smally glimpse of the past 7 years in pictures.
This year Johnny and I have the opportunity to lead our summer interns. It’s been such a fun experience in only a few weeks. Most of you know the past two years Johnny and I have planned the JV Intern Amazing Race. The race is used for team bonding and that is exactly what happened. The Slovenia team came in second place out of 17 teams. Most of the challenges were in Prague, Czech Republic. The challenges included minute to win it, fish pedicure, food challenges, language challenges and many more. They were exhausted but did so well. I helped with the race so I got to cheer the team on at different challenges. I loved getting to see Johnny lead the team with such integrity and poise. Here are a few pictures from the race and our time together during training. We are so excited about what God has this summer. The harvest is plentiful!!! (Photos courtesy of Gwynne Gardner)
Lower right picture. From L to R…Ben, Johnny, Gwynne, Evan, Danny, Margaret and Mana! They are AWESOME!!!
Serving Kofola, a CZ coke to the superheros of Gotham City…in Prague.
They beat the other 80 people off the train to this location!!
Caught in the middle of a monsoon!
Our Interns are going to be great babysitters this summer! Yes, those babies are all from our team!
Our Slovenia team, minus the Jacksons and Patty’s. We have such a GREAT team! I’m so thankful!!!
We find that cute adorable little kids is a draw to talk to students. This year we were able to advertise in the hallway of one of the main high schools and it was a perfect amount of space for Kinsley to practice her walking.
Day trip to Venice, Italy with some students.
Enjoying having my mom and dad here and their fun antics. Budapest, Hungary
Look hard for the tourists who are out of place 🙂
Easter with John and Diane
Oh Jamie (Hi-mey)…how you made our day. Thanks for the figs, olives wine samples in dirty glasses, dried sage and for showing us the wedding pictures of your friends from Zurich. Tarroja, Spain.
Lots of park time for Kinsley and Cosette.
Beautiful day in Peñiscola, Spain.
I wish I could spend at least one day looking through the eyes of one of our Slovene students as they experience the States. We’ve been in NYC, DC and are currently in Nashville. When we’ve asked for their favorite thing that has happened they usually list off three or four things, one of them dinner at Hard Rock Cafe in Time Square.
It’s been fun to see them take pictures of the Taxi’s in NYC, yellow school buses, Starbucks, Yankees game and so many things they’ve only heard about. Yesterday we went to the Pancake Pantry in Nashville and you should have seen Andreja light up when she heard she will get free refills on coffee. Her exact words, “I just got a refill…it’s just like the movies.”
This has been not only a trip of a lifetime for them but also for Johnny, Kinsley and me. We’ve seen amazing things, experienced unbelievable hospitality from strangers and also see God reaching our students in deeper ways (of course Kinsley has slept through most of it). We feel so blessed to have this opportunity to share this experience and to make memories we will never forget.
P.S. The girls can’t wait to shop at Target today!!!
Here are a few pictures of our time so far.
